Support Group for Parents of Kids on the Spectrum

That’s right, for all of you parents. It’s time to acknowledge how hard it is to be a parent of a child on the spectrum. Perhaps you are exhausted, burnt out, lonely, and scared, and you want to connect with other parents and talk about . . . NOT the kids, for a change, but yourselves. Parents of kids on the spectrum need to take care of themselves, but often don’t, due to too little time and energy. Maybe you want to reflect on the changes that parenting your child has brought to your sense of self and your relationships with family, friends, and spouse. Maybe you want to hear what others do for self care and how others find ways to rejuvenate themselves. Perhaps you’ve noticed that you’re not the same person you were before you became a parent to this child, and you want to figure out who you are again. Whatever your particular concerns, come and be a part of a warm, safe, supportive environment where you can talk openly with other parents who “get it,” other parents who face similar challenges, and where you will be encouraged to explore what you need and what steps you can take to bring more balance into your life.

This group meets the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month, from 10:00 -11:30 a.m. Pre-registration is required to attend the group; please contact Susan by e-mail.
